Your Role and Responsibilities

As a benefits coordinator, it’s important for you to know about the programs offered to your employees and the value of those programs. We recommend that you read the various resources available to employees, such as the TIPP User’s Guide (1.6MB). We also suggest that you take a look at the news articles on the News tab on this website.

Benefits coordinators can assist employees with eligibility and enrollment questions, finding TIPP resources, and how to start the claims process. You should:

  • Complete the employer section of the disability claim form then return it to the participant.
  • Tell your new employees about their limited opportunity to enroll in TIPP benefits without evidence of insurability (EOI). Then, provide a link to the TIPP User’s Guide (1.6MB), where the employees can find more information.
  • Inform existing employees who wish to apply for TIPP benefits that enrollment is limited to Summer Enrollment or within 31 days of an applicable qualifying life event (QLE), and that EOI is required.
  • Direct employees who need to submit EOI to their ERS accounts, and explain that Guardian Life Insurance will contact them regarding their EOI applications.
