When Coverage Begins

The first day of TIPP coverage depends on when you enrolled or applied and were approved for coverage. You must be actively at work for coverage to be effective.

When coverage begins

Within 31 days of your first day at work (hire date)

First day of the month after the date you enroll
Due to a qualifying life event (QLE)

First day of the month after the date Guardian Life Insurance approves your coverage
During Summer Enrollment

Following initiation of Evidence of Insurability (EOI) through ERS OnLine during Summer Enrollment, if EOI approved prior to September 1, coverage will begin on September 1. For applications approved on or after September 1, coverage will begin the first of the month following the EOI approval.
